Humans need roads and their value is indispensable for getting from one place to another. For wildlife, however, roads and the building of them are the opposite, they are a barrier. Roads separate animals' natural habitat into haphazard islands where they must either cross them or feed, roam and reproduce in ever decreasing areas.
But now exciting changes are underway to end roadkill and ingenious designs for animal overpasses and underpasses are lowering the animal body count on our highways.
